INTERVIEW WITH OUR NEW SENIOR TEACHER: SARA TIRRITO
What other projects are you involved in at JCL?
I’m a Key Teacher at JCL, but I also copy-edit the Logbook and our T-Room newsletter. My background is in journalism, so I still enjoy getting my editing pen out from time to time.
What do you do in your free time?
I love to go on ‘aimless walks’, wandering around Prague until I find something I haven’t noticed before. And since I’m from a small town, I love taking advantage of all the cultural opportunities here in Prague – going to art markets and museum exhibitions and whatever festivals happen to be on at the moment.
What is the most unusual job you've ever had?
That would have to be the internship where I assisted an author (Jeff Guinn) who was writing about the infamous American cult leader and convict Charles Manson. We did research to try to understand how Manson became a cult leader, and we travelled to his hometown to interview people who knew him as a child.
What is your favorite word, and why?
For awhile now, my favorite word has been bublifuk. It was one of the first Czech words that really made me laugh the moment I heard it, plus it's just such a happy word. But in general, I love having my friends teach me random Czech words. I find that I can remember strange words and phrases much more easily than Czech verb conjugation patterns.
Are you a coffee person or a tea person?
While I enjoy a nice cup of tea, I am definitely a coffee person through-and-through. But anyone who knows me knows that my real vice is Coca-Cola.
